Rowan Tree of Life Necklace - Sterling Silver
The tree of life is one of the most universal symbols in human history. It appears across Celtic tradition, Norse mythology, ancient Egypt, Judaism, Buddhism and dozens of other cultures that had no contact with each other, all arriving independently at the same image: a tree whose roots reach as deep into the earth as its branches reach toward the sky, connecting the world below with the world above and everything in between.
It is a symbol of rootedness and growth existing together. Of the understanding that to reach upward, something must first be anchored downward. Of the way all living things are connected to each other through systems we can feel but not always see.
The rowan tree in Celtic tradition carried its own particular magic, said to offer protection, to stand at the boundary between the everyday world and something older, to be the tree under which decisions were made and intentions were set.
This pendant sets the tree of life in sterling silver, its branches touching the circle that contains them, reaching as far as they can go, held within something larger. A small, considered object that carries one of the oldest ideas human beings have ever had.
